Eight Years in Prison on Heroin Charges for Wonder Lake Man

A press release from the McHenry County State’s Attorney:

SHAWN BRAND SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR THE OFFENSE OF DELIVERY OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 35 year-old Shawn Brand of Wonder Lake, IL, was sentenced to eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of delivery of a controlled substance.

On July 5 th, 2017, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department responded to the home of Jeremy Caccamo located at 4517 East Wonder Lake Road.

Mr. Caccamo had died as a result of a heroin overdose.

The Sheriff’s Department recovered multiple bags of heroin from Mr. Caccamo’s room.

Some of the bags bore the imprint of an orange basketball, while other bags were stamped with the insignia of the Duke University “Blue Devil” basketball Mascot.

A search of Mr. Caccamo’s cell phone revealed communication with Shawn Brand.

The Sheriff’s department interviewed the defendant, Shawn Brand, and he admitted that on July 4 th he had delivered two
bags of heroin with the “Blue Devil” logo to Mr. Caccamo in exchange for 20 dollars and some hypodermic needles.

The defendant stated that Mr. Caccamo bought the bags with the orange basketball logos from someone else.

This case was investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department and prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Michael Combs and Rita Gara.
